Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Oxygen Therapy

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD is a mental condition that develops after a person experiences or witnesses a traumatic or terrifying event (war, accident, rape, act of terrorism or other threatening situations in life).  Hyperbaric oxygen therapy for PTSD is an option for treatment that will help those that suffer from PTSD.

Symptoms may include hyperarousal, flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as
uncontrollable thoughts about the event, seclusion and fear. Many people who go through traumatic events have difficulty adjusting and coping for a while, but may not have PTSD. With time and good self-care and they usually get better. But if the symptoms get worse or last for months or even years and interfere with daily functioning, you may have PTSD. These traumas may alter ones feelings for themselves, others and how they view the world. If you have been diagnosed with PTSD and you would like to try an alternative treatment or if you would like to own or rent a hyperbaric chamber, give us a call 770-948-4511.

Women are twice as likely to develop post traumatic stress disorder as men and children can also develop it. PTSD often occurs with depression, substance abuse or other anxiety disorders.

Trauma survivors who have PTSD may have trouble with their close family relationships or friendships. Their symptoms can cause problems with trust, closeness, communication, and problem solving  which may affect the way the survivor acts with others. In turn, the way a loved one responds to him or her affects the trauma survivor. A circular pattern may develop that could harm relationships.
